Approved in the Seattle IWW general membership meeting on January 4, 2017

Whereas, the resistance of oppressed peoples and workers of the world continues to grow, and along with it we have seen the backlash by white supremacist and anti-immigrant forces, and

Whereas, the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, and other racist groups, emboldened by the current political climate, have increasingly become a presence in our communities, and

Whereas, white supremacists organize themselves not only in the streets, but in our workplaces, our schools, in the capitalist courts and police departments, etc., have had a hand in many anti-labor initiatives including “right to work” laws, and are a threat to the labor movement and the working class as a whole, and

Whereas, the IWW has a long history of fighting back against the KKK and other white supremacists, of being an anti-fascist and anti-racist union, of being a union for all workers,  and of putting into practice the motto that “an injury to one is an injury to all”, and

Whereas, the KKK is currently planning provocations in the Pacific Northwest, which require a swift and strong counter response,

Be it resolved that the Seattle branch of the Industrial Workers of the World confirm our commitment to organizing against the KKK and other white supremacist organizations, to stand with other unions and other community allies, and to quickly mobilize when these forces present a threat.
